    Hi guys,
Just wondering what peoples opinion is on dog vests?
I'm thinking about one for a few reasons, to camo up my black and white springer, to add a little buoyancy to his swimming, to stop him getting cold in the duck hide and to reduce the amount of those sticky torn things he gets all over him in the reeds and the mrs makes me brush out of him!!!!

My concerns are that maybe he might overheat,he really is a winter dog and struggles with heat.
Also I think all these vests are designed for labs with big chests and might be a little saggy in places as my lad is "aerodynamic"

Just wondering what you guys think and your experiences are

I see a few lads with them but they never seem to keep them long. My biggest concern would be getting the vest caught on something and drowning the dog. I saw it happen with a springer wearing a collar before

I was hoping for more peoples experience on this one.
I don't use a collar on him in case it gets caught in anything but where I water fowl it's very open and not deep so he actually is never swimming!

So I went ahead and ordered one last night, I ordered a Dokken vest, the reviews are very good on them and it came in wetlands camo where as the jack pyke was more woodlands!

My only concern is the size as they are designed for fat yanks!!! But w'ell see when it arives

Any chance you'd write a review after using it a few times...was often considering one.

Sorry tried to post earlier but been that long forgot Password any how. Have had one for 2 full season on a springer he has a snow white body all my duck shooting is at dusk and a small bit on the shore I find it a class job not only for breaking up the dog's out line but I've seen the dog after been in the water bone dry when taking off the vest and on cold December nights he seems to be more comfortable than the other dogs takes a beating as well often hunting heavy cover for retrieves. Size wise it a small and he his a well built dog you will be happy I think

I don't see the why a black and white Dog should need camo, I can hardly see my B+K Springer in deep cover, as the adding of buoyancy it will help as a D**Diver myself ,I used to use parts of an old wet suit on a Torch to keep it float and it does work so great idea for the Dog, and it will of course keep the Dog warm, as to the sticky things he or she will pick up on other parts of there body I don't think that will work, but it will cut down on the area they can attach to the Dog, best of luck with the Dog vest but it will be the Dog that decides if it like's it hope it did not cost too much.

I did come across this crowd who will make a vest for your dog and they seem very reasonable too!
Its a shame I was a few days late but it might suit someone else
