Where is his mind, how does he hear? How does he even see? His eye balls are only frabricated goo balls. Does his whole body sense the EMF!

Also, I love Enterprise and Janeway.

"When you return to The Link, what will become of the entity I'm talking to right now?"
    "The drop becomes the ocean."
"And if you choose to take solid form again?"
    "The ocean becomes a drop."

How does a 70kg man turn into a 1 kg bird? Is he hollow when he's a large animal?

How can the sensors not detect a changeling is a changeling?

How can they imitate people so easily, do they perfectly get all the organs and blood cells correct?

Can a Betazoid detect a changeling?

They seem to at least attempt to do this. When the blood screenings came in samples taken from changelings appeared to be blood before changing back to brown goo.

    It's just Odo that can't.

Yeah, Odo can't others choose not to so they stand out as Changelings. The female Changeling visually fooled Odo when she impersonated Kira.

EDIT: Oh, and the one that was impersonating Bashir for months had Bashir's face.

The whole life signs sensor doesn't make a whole lot of sense really. What signs of life are they picking up? Heart beats? Carbon dioxide? The sound of food moving through the gut? How are they supposed to pick up noises happening on the other side of a vacuum.

Lifesigns seems like a very broad term in Star Trek. On a planetary scale it might be as simple as detection of biologically produced compounds like methane or for more advanced civilisations evidence of non-natural occurrences like buildings, nuclear fission on the surface, etc. In the case of detecting individuals they probably detect the electromagnetic field generated by living things. But in medical situations it's probably heartbeat*, respiration*, etc.

*for those species that have them.

changelings are not composed of ordinary matter, they can change their mass.

You can't change mass. You can gain it is lose it. Where does it go in the meantime?

    Do changelings outrank each other?

In the last few battles how many changelings were actually on Cardassia? With the Female Changeling dying what exactly was stopping Odo from ordering the Jem'Hadar to stand down?

He did use some of his power on DS9 to cause friction between Dukat/Weyoun. He turned into the Female Changeling once over the course of the war, and that was it!

Why didn't they just tag/inject a sensor on every Starfleet officer considering Changelings have to revert to their goo state every 16 hours and the sensors could warn them?

I think that's only Odo, or at least only relatively young Changelings.

Some boards.lcars warrior would be straight on to the data protection commissioner.

Also, it seems like wasted effort when you are wiping them out with a bio-wmd.

Indeed, the cheek of them refusing to negotiate and being hell bent on the destruction of the Federation.

I think there is only one changeling and it splits off small parts which are reabsorbed later.

There is the "drop becomes the ocean and the ocean becomes the drop" thing but Odo, and the rest of the Hundred, were referred to as being children or infants. So either they're young lifeforms or are a part of an old lifeform with all skills, experience, and memory erased which is functionally the same thing. If all changelings were measured by Odo's abilities they wouldn't be able to infiltrate anything.

That's would be only an Odo detector. Odo is the only one that has to regenerate every 16 hours because he has not matured yet. Regardless of looking like an old man and his personality, Odo is just a kid.

Star Fleet didn't have the technology. The Caradasians did though, the Obsidian Order
    have sensors that detect changelings.
    IvySlayer wrote: »

Betazoids can not read changeling minds. With that information one could raise the alarm at the possibility of someone being a changeling due to not being able to read their mind. But they wouldn't know for sure, unless it was someone they had met, and read, before. Betazoids are rubbish anyway, default answer by them is always "I'm not sure". Cold readers have a better hit rate.

Amino acids, an interaction detection sensor. Every good household has one.

Don't think it's mentioned anywhere in canon that other changelings don't need to regenerate.

When they locked Odo in human form, they did so with all the internal organs he needed to function as a human. Bashir said when examining him that aside from his face, he was indistinguishable from a human. So they are that sophisticated in their shape shifting abilities.
