This should be a stickied bargain alert. I bought one of these last year and it was perfect.

The prices Harvey Norman etc charge for these is extortionate.

Very easy to assemble and mount too.

I'd say it will mount on the wall fine but not with those rawl plugs they provide, you will need special ones like these -

To be honest, I'd be looking to find the studs rather than rely on the plasterboard to hold up a plasma!

Although I've this exact mount holding up a heavy old 32" TV on plasterboard alone.

The wooden vertical supports behind the plasterboard were too far apart for the mount. Although I suppose I should've tried securing it through at least 1 wooden beam behind the plasterboard.


Anyways, I ended up using 8 of these spring toggles to spread the load... B&Q Spring toggles

Is the bracket adjustable to be able to screw into two timber beams?

Toggle springs will work too.

No.
The square part of the mount is attached to the wall permanently and cannot be widened, its dimensions are fixed.

If you're lucky, you might have a horizontal support beam in between the usual vertical wooden beams behind the plasterboard.
But it would be pure luck that it is the right preferred height to mount the TV at.

Alternatively, you could nail your own horizontal beam in front of the plasterboard, nailed into the two vertical beams.
It could look ugly and extend beyond the width of your TV but would work.

* The vertical beams behind my plasterboard were wider apart than the TV mounts width.

use proper plugs for the job and it is as safe as anything else

if you need to hang 60 inch plasma on hollow drywalls i would recommend at least 4 (preferably 6 or 8) M6/M8 molly plugs
