Heated Seat Covers

    Morning all,

So with winter fast approaching and the cold mornings setting in, now that I have a car with leather (but not heated) seats, I figure I'll soon be freezing my ass off! :p

Yes I know you can retrofit with the OEM setup but it'd cost a fortune no doubt so I'm considering alternative solutions - something like this on Amazon.
There's a few others and some look better than others but I'm a bit concerned by the reviews on some of them about the plug melting in the sockets etc!

Has anyone used any of these and if so, any you'd recommend? Any other options I should consider or any thoughts on how much to retrofit heated seats into a 05 Audi A6 with electric/memory functions (why the original owner got those but didn't tick the heated option is beyond me!)

    Cheers!

Aldi had them, not sure when they come back but wouldn't surprise me if it's soon.

Research them before buying. I'm lucky to have heated seats built in so have never used these.

You can get universal non OEM heaters, I hate seat covers generally.
I think eringobreagh fitted them to his mr2

I've put them in my car too :)

Easy to install but not all seats are suitable....

Wouldn't mind giving this a go. What is it like to do when it comes to wiring? I'm moderately capable when it comes to DIY's but wiring is something I have no experience with.

Most just plug into the lighter socket.

It was really easy. One fused wire to the battery, one switched wire, and one headlight wire (so the led in the switch comes on at night) and a ground :) the set I got had good instructions. I took the switched and light wires from the clock:)

Nice one. I think I would manage that.

Can it be done without removing the seat cover? eg. like sliding in the panel?

I'd be worried I wouldn't be able to get back on the seat cover, leather seats may be tricky.

I didn't take the covers off all the way, just rolled them back/slid the heaters in underneath.
