So I have a 1055 with 20.8R38s on the back and want to know what should be on front, have downloaded charts from the net and 480/65R28 seems to be the most correct size rang two case ih dealers and they couldnt give me any information probably because they were too lazy to look for it. I know standard size for this machine was 12.4/11R28 and rears were 16.9/14R38 as I have the manuals for the tractor. 14.9R28s are what is on the front at that they are 20mm out
(I think myself) one guy I spoke to said there would be that much there to allow for tyre wear as a precaution have not been using 4wd anyway. Tractor is not grabbing on hard surface with 4wd on which is a good sign as incorrect tyre size would cause grabbing. I think a Uk dealer might be a better bet and see what they say. Open to any advice or suggestions on this matter or anyone who would know where I can get the 4wd gearing ratio

the 1055 has two different axle ratios for the same axle model, heres the info I have a 1055 with a zf apl 1552 axle ratio is 1.3828 or 1.3742 it may be stamped on the axle plate, heres the formula to work out the wheel sizes, rolling circumference front tyre multiply by axle ratio minus rolling circumference rear tyre, multiply that sum by 100 hopefully that helps.you could always give alex mills a ring 048 37548971 they should have lots of info on the older ih/case ih tractors.
