Thinking of the Lenovo z500 i5 3rd gen processor

Kinda want the touchscreen and have looked at so many models and keep coming back to this. Is it an ok laptop or should I really be waiting for the 4th gen processor?
Hoping for a speedy machine for watching DVDs, streaming, photo storage, iPhone backup etc.
is there another machine at this level that would be better?

The price is fair enough but I'm not so sure if it is the right machine for you. You clearly wouldn't need a powerful GPU like the GT 740M (which also has a quite significant impact on the battery life, if that is of any concern). I prefer a full HD display for watching movies and editiing photos (though FHD touch screens are rather expensive).

Bought that very model this week from those guys. Ordered it Sunday night and after a quick security check on the phone Monday morning, I got it Tuesday morning. Brilliant.

As for the machine, its ok, not bad for the price. Back lit keyboard is cool feature(mind you, I had a stone age Laptop before, so even turning it on is a highlight for me). Tad bit annoyed that the underneath is sealed(screws obviously) but, no battery to put in as its already there. The track pad is slightly annoying as it is one pad, so when you go to right click something, it bloody moves. Its something that I will have to get used to but I was always going to buy a wireless mouse.

This is the first long piece I am after writing with and have to say that it aint too bad. Read a few reviews and some people like it, some hate it but it depends what you want it for. Im not into Blu Ray discs so I don't need Blu Ray player, 6gb seems ok and the 1TB is more then I need. Haven't tested out the graphics yet, not planning to go nuts on games as if I was, I would have bought something else. Touch screen is a good feature too although, like all tablets, make sure you have clean hands. Battery life is ok, as everybody would, I would have liked it to have lasted longer then what is quoted, but overall, I am happy with the amount I spent and how quick I delivered.

One tip if buying through these guys, dont use paypal to pay for it. I was about to and it was nearly €700 in total. Used the visa debit card and cost me 687, small saving, but better in your pocket then theirs. Hope this helps

Thanks So much for the detailed reply. I have looked at so many laptops and ultrabooks at this stage that it's driving me mad. Think I'll just go and buy it tomorrow. Good to hear an honest review. Thanks again.
