No wasnt in Carnew but was in Mohill
Would prefer to be buying than selling
Although all stock were sold -other than dealers stock which were re run several times at the inconvenience of genuine farmers- I think the margin on sucklers when you include the maternal costs is pretty small if any
We bought 8 Golden R Grade Charollais heifers average weight 280 average price € 730 all farmers cattle . Great show of stock

Bought four yellow char heifers last week. Dec 12, 365kg €825. Off a lim X shorthorn cow. A super heifer.
Three more avg 260kgs. March born. €730. Again off lim X shorthorn cows.
    Keeping for breeding purposes.

Wasn't there Wednesday night. Was there a fortnight ago with heifers. All blues and two were very plain.
    320kg - €760
    343kg - €920
    368kg - €960
    402kg - €1240

All were under 11 months with the youngest and plainest at almost 9 months.
That worked out at an average of €970 @ 358kg average or at €2.71 per kilo giving the good with the bad. I was happy enough with that for heifers tbh.

Theres not that much farmer demand so far in the midlands/nw
From what I see things have changed around the ring
Most of the people buying calves are acting on behalf of feedlots or are advertising them again on the web or are tanglers
    Has anyone else noticed this

Ya I see a lot more lads advertising batches of weanlings on an ongoing basis. Funny thing is they keep using the same pictures from one end of the year to the next and of course all advertised as 'U'grade.
