Recording from saor view to a DVD recorder

I have a DVD recorder which I used to be able to record from before the saor view switch. I could record onto disc or onto the harddrive. My television is saor view so I don't need a saor view box. Since the saor view digital switch over my recorder won't record. Is there any thing I can do to fix this .. Helen

Is the DVD recorder connected to the tv by scart lead? If you select an external channel on the recorder, can you view what is currently selected on the tv?

You should be able to record this but, obviously you will be limited to watching & recording the same programme.

There are very few DVD recorders on the market which can handle the MPEG4 codec used by Saorview (the few that exist are hard to find and ridiculously overpriced) None of them are (as far as Im aware) "Saorview approved".

You always have the option of recording via a SCART lead from a Saorview STB but you use a lot of the potential benefits (such as EPG integration) of digital recording.

This is the only one that will give the same functionality .

Not SV approved as mentioned but does everything for Saorview except detailed program info and teletext.
Considering the variety of functions, including blu ray player, blu ray/ dvd/hdd recording and the network capabilities, it's hard to see how it can be described as ridiculously priced.

What sort of price should a quality manufacturer charge for this ?

No. It doesn't have the required Saorview MPEG-4 tuner.

I use my LG DVD/HDD recorder occasionally now to copy programmes from my Saorview PVR (recorder) to DVD.

The Walker Saorview PVR might be your best option now, record 2 programmes, series link, 7 day guide.
