    Hi All,

Looking at buying an astravan, the airbag/ seatbelt light is on intermittently although was on all the time on the test drive. They guy said it's usually off until someone sits on the passenger seat? Any ideas ? Possibly expensive?

    Thanks.

i wouldnt think its an expensive fix the problem is most likely a short in the back of the clocks but to be sure there are no expensive sensors faulty get it on a diagnostic..you could use this as a way to get the price down a few hundred euro ;)

    Is it private or dealer?

It's just me but I always walk from a car that has an airbag fault, generally means (but not always), that it has being in an accident.

As far as the fault being a short in the dash, I would be very surprised.

I suppose it could happen but if you had 100 airbag light faults, 1 would probably be that

What county is that van in?

Do not buy until get a diagnostic scan done on the airbag ecu.

Don't believe for a second what the seller is telling you.

A diagnostic scan will reveal the truth.

Airbag system faults can be expensive to repair

The SRS/airbag system is linked logically to the seatbelt tensioner. This usually takes the form of a wiring loom under the seat. The little plugs and connectors can wear and cause fiddly airbag light stuff like this. Check it out.
