I have an outfarm rented and the owner said I could use the slatted sheds and to empty them afterwards. have is slatted and then there is another half outside that as it was shared when the were milking cows for the yard scrapings etc. the thing is that you can only agitate from outside in 3 different points. will I be able to put my redrock pump in? will it need to be supported at the other side like it is here in my farm?

    you'll have be clearer

    how big/long is the tank
what type of pump have you
what do you mean by half inside and out, is it all one tank?

I will try my best. its half inside half outside. the tank is about 80x20 outdoors and at a guess 60 x 15 indoors with 3 agitation points outside. hard to describe really. its a galvanised redrock pump 8ft. about 4 years old. I suspect the tank will fill up with rain water faster than anything else.

I suppose im saying it wrong. its probably 80 by 40 or something with the slatted shed built ontop of half it there is two gaps up to about 7ft to let the slurry out into the outside and then another two feet of wall above the gaps.

Is it two easy flow channels(in shed) with an outdoor lagoon.

We used to have an outdoor tank that everything went into and the father used a ordinary pump to mix it pump was about 8ft and tank was 10ft deep. Slurry that came out of it was nice stuff. Not really all water either. All ye can do is try. Id say it'll be grand

so would a more accurate description be 4 column slatted tank with a shed over it and no agitation points, adjoining a 80X40 slatted tank which has 3 agitation points. The tanks have a common floor and the wall between the tanks has a couple of gap to allow flow into the other.

Is there any where you can agitate in the covered tank?
is it is open on the feed side? if so can you open open of the barriers, lift a slat in the middle and drop in a pump agitator that can be turned to the left and right to mix the slurry in the tank?

have seen a few of these systems most work on the principle that the slurry drops in the covered tank but as the floor is shared it'll flow into the open tank. You only take from the open tank so this is where you agitate and draw from. The open tank will have rain water so will always be diluted enough that it should be easy mixed. once you can get your agitator into the open tank right where the two meet you shoul be able to pump into the covered tank and the slurry will flow in one gap and out the other. Even if you cant the rain water can flow into the cover side of teh tank and the slurry into the open side. once you start agitaing it should all start to mix and flow

Wat way does the pump fold, is it hydraulic top link or does it just go over cemtre and fall forward like the nc? I've a feeling all redrocks are top link jobs??
Basically what I'm getting at is, is the pump fixed at 90degrees to the linkage points or can it pivot? If fixed you should have no problem hanging it in over side if ground level is level with top of tank!

BUT WATEVER YOU DO MAKE SURE YOU ARE SAFE IF YOU GO TO ADJUST THE SPOUT DONT JUST LEAN IN OVER AN OPEN TANK!
Id make a safety rail if you are going to have to do it

It will work no bother. Was talking to father about it today and he said it worked grand. The pump we had pumped about 75ft and was on a hydraulic top link. Just watch out when changing spout direction

I should have added above we do a big open tank for a guy, we've an nc3800 so it's held ridged by 2 rams, the bit we drop agitator into is 12 foot deep bout 25 wide and then about 12 foot out there's a wall with 2 big openings in it, behind the wall/ through the openings is a big tank bout 6 foot deep and about 140 foot long, he scrapes yard out into the top end of it and also piles up any solid dung on ramp at the ramp at the far end.
we jus drop in mixer and blow up through the openings, there's slats over the bit we drop the mixer through so atleast we have safe place to stand at either side

Hydraulic toplink will be grand! Basically once you can hold it fixed from movin you'll get away with it but jus be careful when adjusting it
