Not having a good watch week

Firstly i received a strap for my JLC Master compressor chrono from watchfinder that i waited 6 weeks for. When i received the watch from them it was in excellent condition but the strap was tired, i offered to return it, but they said they would send me a new strap. I accepted and havent worn the watch waiting for the strap.

it finally arrives and whilst its a JLC strap, it isnt the correct one, it was an 18mm dark brown croc strap for something far daintier :(

Their current suggestion is that i return the watch so they can fit the new strap so as to ensure its the correct one, no thanks, a) i dont want some clumsy chimp wrecking the lugs and b) i dont want the hassle. FFS just send me the correct strap.

That was yesterday, today i receive a stunning zenith striking tenth, described as totally mint by the seller, which it was, barring again clumsy strap changing marks on the lugs, not even underneath but on a flat portion of the lugs facing you at the front of the watch.

The seller never noticed them, im assuming they occured before ever he bought the watch, however he seems to be inferring that i caused them, even though i never even got as far as trying the bloody thing on.

Anyway negotiating returning this to him, which between return postage, bank xfer fees and fx hit of getting the money back will probably run me 100 euro.

    :( pissed off

On the very rare occasions I swap out a strap on one of my springbar watches I don't mind admitting I'm bricking it and these are watches that already have some marks on them(I call it patina, so there :) ). Doing it on a new or as new watch where tolerances are far tighter anyway would have me in the funny farm.

Those Zeniths are a gorgeous watch. I don't wanna sound like a backstreet garage here, but would the marks polish out?

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

i know its a stunning watch

while they aren't extensive, they are reasonably deep, and there isnt anyone i trust to polish them out
