Could a dedicated list / calendar of hands-on Photographic Workshops be developed on this site.
This list/calendar would serve to inform beginner, intermediate and advanced photography enthusiasts of upcoming workshops in various aspects like Natural Light, Flash, Studio, etc.
I would welcome all information relating to any such workshops being held in Ireland by local and visiting photographers.

Creative expression through photo and art therapy: This workshop is designed for anyone who has an interest in using art materials and photographs for therapeutic benefit. The workshop will explore photo collage, self portraiture and using found photos in art making.

The aim of the workshop is to inspire creativity, personal development and community inclusion. The workshop will consist of a short information segment, an experiential art making session and some informal group reflection. The session is not art therapy training or a therapy session rather intends to give participants an idea of what art therapy is and how the process works.

Places can be booked on the Centre for Creative Practices website

That's Browne with an 'e' (there's a Cork based Mike Brown too)

I was on Mikes course in Zurich in 2013 and found it good and very enjoyable (OK, doing the workshop in Switzerland added to the fun :) ) so I thought I'd just flag up that he'll be running a workshop in Enniskillen in August

He also has one of the best Youtube sites for learning photography so you can see his teaching style to see if it might work for you.

In case people are interested - Dublin Camera Club have arranged an evening with Alan Ross. It's a ticketed event open to the public with limited numbers, tickets just €16. You can get tickets on the website.

Alan Ross was Ansel Adams’ Photographic Assistant from 1974 to 1979 and has been the exclusive printer of Ansel Adams’ Special Edition negatives for over thirty-five years. Should be a really good night. Super to have him in Dublin!

It was €300 for a 1 day course 2 years ago

But it did mean getting to shoot Teo Sutra & Irma Mali.

tbh it was pretty basic stuff too. i.e. "This is what a softbox does, this is what a beauty dish does etc., here's how to use the healing brush in Photoshop and so on"

I enjoyed the day and managed to justify the cost on that basis alone, but if it's simply about learning studio photography 101 then there are less costly options. Just be prepared to do without the celebrity photographer and models :)
