Octocon is the National Irish Science Fiction Convention which has been running for the last 23 years. http://www.octocon.com

Thank you ixoy for permission to start this thread.

Richard K Morgan is one of this years guests of honor ( the other is Gail Simone).
His first novel Broken Carbon won the Philip K Dick award in 2002,
the next 2 books in the trilogy were the most intriguing sicfi books I have read this year.

He is doing a signing Friday evening from 5pm in Hodges Figgis
and is taking part in the discussion panels this weekend at Octocon in the Camden Court Hotel.
The topics of the panels range from story telling in games to lgbt characters to writing in the age of internet feedback.

Full listing of the panels he is taking part in with descriptions are here.

Weekend ticket for Octocon is 30 euro, 20 for students.

Hope to see some of you there.

Thanks for the heads up on the book signing - got a chance to have him put his scrawl on my old copy of "Altered Carbon". Weren't too many people there which let him have a little bit of a chat with each fan. Seemed like a real sound down-to-earth guy.

He was lovely to deal with over the weekend both on panels and when he wasn't doing one.
At one stage he just hung out at the convention reception desk with the staff for an hour and a half,
just chatting away and helping out.
