Timber Decking Non-Slip Solution

Hello All

I own an apartment which has 6 timber walkways on different levels connecting two building. At present there is timber decking which gets very slippy when wet.

I have heard that a possible low cost solution to prevent slipping is painting a non-slip paint onto the decking and sprinkle some coarse sand/grit onto this.

Has anyone any experience of doing this - does it work - is it a long-term solution?

Try Bleach first. Its Algae/Moss/fungus/whatever. There are specialised solutions for this, but pricey.

This might sound strange but it worked for me (it'll wear off after a while).

Get some 7up and dilute it with water,and add a little bit of sugar.

Leave it to get tacky,then add some sand/grit.


It's non chemical and doesn't damage the decking as much as a glue type substance would.

Varnish it and the throw some sand on it. It fixed the problem for me
