    Hi Guys,

I have been thinking about changing the dims (h7) on my 06 Focus. I'm just wondering will these melt the plastics or wiring system?
I'm looking at getting the 6K kit. Am I mad or should I just stay with the standard bulbs?

Why do people make these threads 2 days after I spend forty quid on new h7 halogen bulbs.

Didn't look at link but does kit come with headlight washers as you need them to be legal AFAIK and the would be a pain toretrofit unless you jUST stick on some dummy ones

try get 4300k heat range...it gives off more light and imho a better colour than the dark blue purpley look. the lower the heat range the stronger the light

No the kit doesn't comes with the washers. I don't know enough about them tbh that's why I said I would ask before I went of buying a good set of h7 bulbs. The driver's side is blown so it would be a good time to change over if I was as the headlight will have to come out anyway.

Also I was doing some searching and lads are saying that without projectors they will look crap.

These are the headlights that are on the car:

You need washers and they need to be self levelling to be legal, also I think your dips have to stay on when you go full lights aswell.

They are reflector lights. Do NOT under any circumstances fir HIDs to these. The light focus is not sharp enough and as a result they will blind all other traffic. If you want more light I would suggest osram nightbreakers.

Yea I forgot to mention you need projector headlights, or you will be one of those dickheads that blinds everybody with their hid's

    Cheers for the advice lads.
I've been on the receiving end of those dickheads so definitely don't want to go down that road.

If u do opt to stay with the halogen setup go for the osrams as I impulse bought a set of forty quid Philips high power h7 and they are as yellow as the factory bulbs when I was after a pure white light

As halogens go osrams nightbreaker plus are about the best for the money. There 20 euro on micks garage for a pair. We put them in an octavia with very weak dipped lights beforehand and they made a huge difference. Picture below not great but you can see the nightbreaker on the left is a lot stronger that the standard bulb on the right.

I have a pair of Osrams ordered off Micks Garage so hopefully I have them tomorrow.

I got the osrams in the post yesterday, H7 & H1, and installed the straight away. On the way home from work last night I have to say they make a big difference. A lot more light on the road and white instead of the yellow standard bulbs.
I would have a problem recommending them to anyone. Now I have to get parking bulbs that match the colour of the osrams.

    Cheers lads for the advice.

I never heard about the washers or the self leveling legal requirement. I have HID's as standard and they have neither. Is this only a legal requirement after a certain date of manufacture?

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

in the uk for an mot it is required although only seems to effect people up north where the mot stations are government run. from what i can gather its the wording in the mot manual that says these are needed but a lot of cars came standard without both. so legaly it is not required but because the mot sats it is a car can nit pass without them

Actually i dont think its law in ireland after doing a bit of research. what car do u have Wibbs? unusual for a standard car not to have the washers and self leveling with xenons.

lancer evo came with xenons with no adjustment or washers

Honda integra DC2. IIRC it's replacement the DC5 doesn't have washers either? On the UK MOT front, I know a couple of lads up north with both these models and they pass their MOT.

For what it's worth I passed the NCT by retrofitting bi-xenon HID projectors into my halogen housings. The car is self levelling from the factory, but has no washers (although OEM xenon on the car does). I did buy a windscreen washer kit for a kitcar that I could mount on the bumper if the NCT wanted, but they didn't mention it. I'm fairly sure all the testers aren't up to date with the new HID requirement of the test, so once the beam pattern looks good then it'll pass. Or maybe it's due to the headache that so many OEM systems are missing washers and/or levelling as Wibbs says. The best part is, the conversion cost me less than what a lot of cowboys charge for "H7 XENON KITS"

was just browsing through some stuff there, and it seem the HID's without washers and a leveling mechanism are an NCT fail but for some reason i have never heard of anyone failing on this. maybe the testers just cant be arsed with it.
