Australian tax help

    Hi Guys,
I recently just came back from Australia for college a few weeks ago after going over there for 3 months and working 7 weeks of that on a working holiday visa. Anyhow, I thought I would try and get my tax sorted there recently however I have found that my tax may have been sorted wrong and i will be 'deemed non resident for tax purposes'. Apparently, the amount I still owe is $AUD 1,0000 which is a hugely hefty amount for a student like myself. I was told by a tax intermediary that I can either pay the outstanding amount owed now or else dont pay it and risk getting fined by the government if they follow up.

I am not planning on going back to work in the country but would like to have the ability to go back on a holiday. I really need some of you're guys opinions on this on whether you think I would be able to leave it be and hopefully be left alone or whether you think I should get the outstanding fees paid now.

Any advice would be hugely helpful at this time.

    Thanks
