    Hi,

I am currently working out Tax for 2012 - it was an on/off job throughout the year so there was not a weekly pay cheque. As a result of this my Gross tax is less than my tax credits giving me a minus figure. I do qualify to pay PRSI and am exempt from USC.

My question is if i have a minus figure as my Net Tax and a figure for my PRSI - Do i subtract the net tax from the PRSI and pay this amount or do i pay the full amount owing for PRSI and leave the minus figure as is?

    Thanks

the amounts should be netted against each other. Revenue collect the paye/prsi due and these are paid as one total amount, not seperated. can i ask how are you going to submit you return? is it through the paye anytime or do you have a ros certificate?

It is for self employed - it's not for me but for my boyfriend. He was working with a landscaper and received just over €7000 for the year with him.

I have filled out the form that he received in the post as this was a once off thing we didn't bother setting up ROS.

The tax credits are no refundable therefore it would not create a refund. The tax credits would be restricted to the maximum PAYE payable.

The PRSI would be calculated after this resulting in a liabilty of €280. (€7, 000 x 4%)
