    Hi Folks,

    Can anyone recommend an efficient and fairly low cost company formation business to use for purchasing an off the shelf company?

    Used a business in August and was charged €360 for setting up a company from scratch with a name we chose. Contacted them earlier this week to purchase an off the shelf company already set up and was quoted €549 (incl. VAT). Seems a little excessive to me & thought an off the shelf company would be even cheaper than a company set up from scratch.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Off the shelf companies are indeed more expensive. You are not allowed to have a company which has undefined objectives as you have to enter an NACE code in order to form it. So an off the shelf company is a dormant company that has already been formed for a purpose and that company must then be changed so that you have a company immediately instead of waiting five days.

    Thought they were pulling a fast one by upping the price but your explanation makes a bit of sense alright.

    you should be able to buy a shelf company for cheaper than that though..

    they charge €250 including vat for company formation and have a quick turnaround.
