    Hi,

I have a 2000 Almera that failed the NCT on Emissions

    Engine Temp: 91C

    Low Idle CO 1.08%
    (863 rpm) HC 65ppm

    High Idle Lambda: 1.00
    (2,713 rpm) CO 0.09 %
    HC 46 ppm

Brought it to a garage and they said it might be the Lambda sensor but weren't certain. They also said the catalytic converter & exhaust pipe is clogged but wouldn't confirm what's the best course of action.

Can anyone recommend how to fix this? Should I go ahead and get the catalytic converter, exhaust pipe & Lambda sensor replaced?

    Thanks, Tom

be careful those sensors are expensive and if you add in the cost of a new exhaust it could be more than the car.
I had an almera and it ended up being a money pit. be sure the rest of the car is in good nick before spending a few hundred on this.

High revs/limiter for a little bit will declog most things. Bit of dipetane should also help get it through the NCT!

Thanks for that, Forgot to say it failed twice first time CO 1.39% I put the STP MOT pack additives in and it reduced it from CO 1.39% to CO 1.08%

I'll try the dipetane and some heavy driving.

I got an Opel Corsa 98.The engine light has been on for 2 years, but I passed 2 consecutive NCTs since. I was told in the garage it has to do with the O2 sensor, but i didn't bother changing it. Every time before the NCT I used STP and it seems that it worked.
