USC exemption threshold

If self-employed earned income is below the exemption limit of €10036 for total income (2012) but deposit interest brings total income above the exemption limit, is USC payable on the earned income? Deposit interest is exempt from USC. Thanks in advance.

Deposit interest is exempt from USC.
