    Hi
I've just been called to cover some classes tomorrow til Friday for a teacher who's sick. The secretary also mentioned that I may be needed in the future as I am their only contact for my subject. I'm currently claiming jobseekers allowance so I'm a bit confused as to how this will work...do I continue to claim or is this seen as full employment? Do I need to tell them tomorrow about this week's work?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

Yes. Ring them when you get a chance tomorrow. They'll change you over to temporary employment.

They will probably put you on a casual basis for jobseekers. So you fill out what days you work in a week and if you work enough, you won't get your jobseekers but if you don't work enough you will get it or a portion of it depending on how much you worked. Its paid a week in arrears.

For me, whenever I've had sub work, I wait till I get my paycheck and then go into the Dole Offices. They take a scan, and then deduct a percentage of my dole a few weeks later. Never had to sign off or change what I was getting. But just let them know it was only a day, as a sub teacher, you don't get advance warning, and once the day is over, that could be it for a while.

When I get a few days subbing, I notify my Social Welfare Office of the days that I have worked. They then give me a form to send to the Payroll in the Dept of Education. They fill it out and send it back to me and I sign it and bring it back to the Social Welfare office. They then deduct my Jobseeker benefit..It is a bit of an ordeal but they told me that the days would have to be more consistent in order for me to be put on the casual dockets.Hope this helps.
