For the same price new, you could get a much better spec'd laptop with 4th gen i7 and significantly faster GTX765M or GTX770 - not to mention full warranty etc. I'd be slow to pay more than about 650 for that laptop.

It's a 3rd gen Intel processor, nearly a year old, you haven't mentioned the Hard disk, solid or rotational? I assumed rotational and no mention of warranty left.

I picked up a 17 inch HD on haswell launch week with 765 GPU, i7 4700MQ, 32 gig ram, 1tb HDD, 120 gig SSD for about 1200, there's pushin my valuation of yours down quite a bit.

Cool, where did you get that? Don't suppose they got the 780m?

If you go to Pc Specialist, who make fantastic laptops, you can get a 4th gen i7, 8gb ram, hdd+ssd, GTX765, 3 year warranty, etc, for about 1100, and it'd kill your laptop in games. I have no idea what the current model of your laptop costs, but obviously when you ask on a forum like this, people are going to give you a 'real' value of a laptop and make comparisons to other options - much the same way as anyone who spends 2k on say, a Dell 'Gaming machine' is only getting about 50% of the value they'd get self building.

Based on your laptops specs and ages, I can't see anyone paying anywhere near 1k for it.

If you had 2K to spend, you could actually buy the aforementioned Pc specialist laptop AND a gaming desktop that'd be much faster than it for the same price as that updated version of the Asus, which is a ridiculous price.

With laptops, the more you spend, the more and faster you loose, unfortunately. The depreciation rate is brutal.
