UK commercial radio 40 years old

    Today is the 40th birthday of legal commercial radio in the UK - the first station in air, LBC, started 8th Oct 1973.

    Thee are some nice reminiscences on LBC's website, on radiotoday.co.uk and other places - including this nice article from Paul Easton:

    I must admit I smiled wryly when I read his account of the draconian over-regulation by the IBA back in the 70s.

    It's not far from how the BAI perform here now!
