So, are there only a limited number of colours available from Irish car dealers? Or is it a slump thing that nearly every car on the road is in monochrome?

If you are buying new then it depends on what colours are offered by the manufacturer and what the dealer can get his hands on.

If you are buying used then it depends on what was/is popular with the first owner.

Only a very few new cars (if any?) are not monochrome.

I was never a big fan of multi-coloured cars, but there are some exceptions...

I like two-tone cars too but these last ten years or more it's all various shades of grey cars.
I have one of them now too, resistance is futile.

You didn't realize? You filthy mind! :D

Anyway, it's not just Ireland, take a look at this picture of an Italian Autostrada:

Only a few speckles of colour, and one is a van (even the coach bus is grey!).

Back in the late '90s everyone seemed to think silverish gray to be the "universal car colour", and it being elegant and so on.

In truth, most motorists simply like the fact that a grey car tends to look cleaner than other colours, unless it has an inch thick of grime on it...

Ever since my previous daily hack I hate silver as a car colour. Yet I've 2 cars that are silver :(

I might take a mad fit someday and respray them both to blue

Do it! Every silver car removed from the road is a plus.

Must bring my paint ball gun to the meet:D

Was thinking Nero black for the 166, still wondering what would look good for the 156.....

You'll be happy to know I've broken dozens of silver cars over the years :D
