Duplicate contacts in messaging on s3 mini

when i compose a new message 2 of each contacts show up when i go to add the recipient. now i have the phone set to only display sim contacts and it does so when i go straight to my phone book. i know how to merge duplicate contacts so thats not my answer as i said it only happens when i add recipient in messages. ive…
