Renew/Cancel Index

I'm not gonna be the new Mr Dower but given that it's early in the new season of shows in the US, it's time to pay at least some attention by TVByTheNumber's Renew/Cancel Index .

While they don't always get it right, you can assume pretty much assume 90% of the shows that stay in the red will not make it to a back 9 or a further season.

It's also useful to work out what shows you can invest some serious time in without fear of cancellation (well, immediate cancellation anyways).

I don't understand The Good Wife and The Mindy Project on the list, both quite good shows. I thought Nashville did well too.

I tend to wait till a season is done to start watching. Hostages and Ironside were two I'd been thinking I'd give a shot to. How are those shows? Guess it's sorta academic if they are more likely to be canned than not.

I made an exception for Brooklyn nine nine. I didn't know whether I'd bother or not, but seeing it recommended here I figured I'd check out the eps that are out so far. I know it isn't a type of show that waiting a week would bother me, and it's ok enough. Wouldn't really be bothered if it gets canned, though to be honest.

I saw this 3 weeks ago, and it was pretty clear to me to expect a fair amount of cancellation news in the coming months.

There's some very good shows on the list, but they simply aren't delivering the ratings "The Big 5" TV networks want.

While these are not the only factors to consider nowadays, as networks are paying more attention to areas like loyalty to a solidly performing show ("Fringe") and Internet buzz ("Community), any new shows that don't deliver will most likely be ditched.

I should point out the guy running Bubble Watch over on tvbythenumbers this year is new to the game and eager to impress, so has been pretty risky with his predicitons... The Renew/Cancel index by network that's posted on the site every Tuesday is much more accurate, in my opinion...

Having said that, apart from Parenthood, Revolution and The Mindy Project (I think it's too early to tell with these 3), I do agree with the rest of the forecast on the above list.

Pushtrak, I'm really enjoying Hostages and it was only ever meant to be a one season show, so it's worth watching. I think all 16 episodes of it will air, even if it gets moved to Fridays or Saturdays, so I wouldn't be too worried about it's predicted cancellation.

Not Hawaii Five-0!!! I look forward to a double header of NCIS LA and Hawaii Five-0 on Sunday nights

Ah I've been enjoying "The Neighbors", once I got over the terrible pilot. Hope it doesn't go.

Don't watch the rest so probably no point in starting, especially the new shows. Which of these new shows are even worth it? Watched the pilots of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Sleepy Hollow and enjoyed both.

I love The Neighbors too, but it's gonna get axed, without a doubt. It's ratings are beyond awful this season.

From the other shows on the list, the only one that I'd really be gutted to see end is Parenthood... Completely underrated, but consistenly good show...

Not surprised to see Hawaii 5-0, last season was pretty bad until the last one or 2 episodes, I just watched to complete the season, but not sure I'll even start this one.
Parenthood is always on the bubble but here we are 5 seasons in...

Would be disappointed if The Good Wife was cancelled, one of my shows I have to watch straight away (along with Parenthood) and I enjoyed the first season of Nashville, completely ludicrous and soap opera stories, but enjoyable fluff all the same. Haven't watched since it came back so maybe it has gone even worse.

They'll have nothing left if they cancel all these returning shows as I've yet to be wowed by any of the new ones I've seen so far, and those I haven't gotten around to yet aren't getting much love stateside in any case.

Glad they decided to do the Red John reveal this season. It would be a balls if they cancelled the Mentalist (with no payoff) after sitting through 100+ episodes of Patrick Jane's smugness.

    I'm enjoying Hostages too.

The current one in the US ? I was viewing at RTE pace and got bored, I had practically the entire series on my Sky box. Last week I checked out the summary of the last one and they still hadn't found him so deleted them all. I might watch the one in which he's revealed so.

So far for cancellation I think will be Betrayal, The Crazy Ones, Hostages and Dads

I cant see The Good Wife and The Mentalist been cancelled
