I'm having trouble with my Audi a4 2004 1.9tdi,black smoke, starting trouble when engines hot,few second delay to get any revs from acceleration after starting car.I've had it scanned with 3 machines which all say nothing is wrong with it..but been told vcds codes will show up the problem..so does anyone know of a mechanic or even just someone that has one around dublin.it would be appreciated thanks. I've had the air flow meter changed and the egr valve cleaned thanks

wouldnt that be broken or cracked vacuum line ? black smoke indicates too much fuel goes in engine. .. could be caused number things ... faulty injector, bad vacuum lines, bad airflow meter, temperature sensor and something else.

I know I've got a cracked o ring off one of the pipes on the turbo that I need to get replaced, planning on getting that done this week..I've had the airflow meter replaced,I'm after spending a fair amount of money on mechanics looking at it and stuff I kind of want to see if I can find out what the problem is before spending money on other stuff that mightn't even be broke ya know.was told the problem should show up on vcds or vas

i've VCDS in Kildare, i've no problem scanning the car for free if you can make it down here, alternatively i may be in Dublin at the weekend.

There might not be any faults logged though. the smoke could be boost leak or turbo related as Mar4ix has said. Starting problems when warm could be as simple as a coolant temp sensor.

temperature sensor you may check yourself with regular electrician tester, resistance needs to be checked . when engine is cold , it should be 80 ohms, when engine is hot, has to be around 4 000 ohms.

did you put new airflow meter (i think its code is G70 ) . if you put used one, it could be faulty also. try use from some friends cars, which has no problems.... that sensor shares number vw and audi cars.

Ill meet you tomorrow with my friend mechanic (if he will be around), he will look over all those signs, if there will be problem , he will quote you, needless say, no fix no pay.
garages just guess and attempt fix car, and charge you, even if there is no results.
