Advice needed: Small screw in rear tyre

Today I found a small screw in my rear tyre.

This is my fist bike and the tyre is relatively new.

Judging from the pictures do you think it needs to be replaced immediately? Is it ok to ride to the garage to be replaced or will it be ok for a while?

    Any advice appreciated.

The screw looks to be half way in & at the base of the thread:( Is there any air leaking from the tyre? spit on it and see if bubbles form. To be honest I wouldnt like to be on a motorway with a possibly defective tyre.

Put a plug in it and you'll be fine. You can pick up a kit in a bike/car shop for a tenner.

I think plugging it from the inside should do fine. A shop will probably have to do it though.

If you hadn't removed it you could have pumped it and ridden slowly to a puncture repair place, now you can't. Either get a plug set or the mouse/foam can, not too sure how puncture repair places react to mouse/foam in the tyre.

If its a back tyre, put a plug in it, it will be ok after that.

    Plug? As in Tyreweld?

I'd say thats barely punctured the tyre. Is the tyre deflating?
I'd check it at a bike shop, mark where it was in the tyre on the sidewall with a crayon or something so you know where the screw was.

Nope, not tyreweld. It's a string of rubber that you push into the hole.
