Just wondering has the A319 used by Air Canada on this route been modified to meet eTops requirements? Would be a long flight in a small aircraft in Economy! :P

Also.. Off Topic, spotted this unusual find on FR24 - Perhaps Military?

Its altitude above 44,000ft would suggest non commercial aircraft

It could also be a bizjet. Planes can be blocked from public view at the owner's request.

Two air Canada 319s have been modified specifically for this route. They also have the engine thrust of the 320.

Great Watch. I was aware British Airways operate a Modified A318 for their LCY-SNN-JFK Service.

I wonder would it be economically viable for Aer Lingus to operate an east coast Canada or US route from either Dublin or Shannon using a smaller aircraft?
I assume a smaller aircraft would mean significant savings on fuel bill and less chance of flying an aircraft half empty.

From what I understand is the British airways flight is all business class.
With I am sure business class fares.
I would expect the air canada to be similar.
I would doubt that a smaller aircraft would be economical from Ireland.
There was an ariticle which gave an interesting perspective on how typically flight pricing works.
    Smaller is not always beautiful

Will try to locate that article, Air Canada operate their service in both Business and Economy, maybe the higher priced Business seats keep the route profitable for them.

Its not all-business, but its unlikely to be economical from Ireland on the basis that there really wouldn't be much demand to St Johns from Dublin. Even being a bit closer to Canada than Heathrow doesn't improve where you can get with an A319.

The lcy-Snn-jfk flight is all business class, its called club lcy and has about 32 lie flat seats with ipads for ife.

It's guaranteed by a large city of London bank which is how it makes money.Though seats are available on BA.com and with avios.

(edit-You might have been referring to the air Canada flight not being all business? The BA one definitely is all J but earns first tp's and avios in the BA exec club programme)

How would that work? Does the bank guarantee to buy a certain amount of seats per year, or do they pay a fixed amount to BA & get to use as many seats as they want?
