I'm looking at my itunes folder & I've 434 episodes of TV to catch up on.

Many of those are 22 minute episodes, Some I've fallen whole seasons behind on, some shows I'll ditch within a couple of episodes, but it looks like I'm never gonna catch up.

Don't get me started on the movies.

How are you keeping up ?

I think netflix has got me into the habit of watching seasons, so ill be letting shows returning now apart for a select few build up while I catch up on those from the summer, I have something in the region of 30 odd shows on the go so my schedule is not for the faint of heart, thought I would have some breathing space this year as a good few shows I watch either ended or were cancelled but of course I need up adding new shows straight away.

Get the right mix of things you will watch on a week to week basis. I don't watch many on a week basis. Most stuff I wait till a season is done, and I have some I wait till the whole lot is done. It's an impromptu approach, but I get around to watching what I want to see eventually. I have some older shows I want to watch but haven't gotten around to yet, for instance The Wezt Wing. Don't know when I'll get to it though.

I've currently got about 70 shows on my list that are still churning out new stuff every season (a lot of these are sitcoms, so its not as TV Junkie-ish as it may sound) and also quite a few Irish/UK shows, that have much shorter seasons...

On top of that, I've got 16 Netflix shows that I'm re-watching or binging on, but only ever 6 at a time, so once I finish a season of any of them, they move to standby while I catch up on something else...

Watching TV is almost a full-time job...

I've about 25 on the go at any one time. Every time I think I'm making progress I find a few more I have to watch. I'll definitely watch the wire once I've caught up on justified...

Mine are piling up too, used to get all shows cleared in time for new season star but still have to catch up on Justified and a few others.

Nothing really grabbing me in new shows this season, so I'm getting the chance to plough through some of the backlog, but I got Netflix for Breaking Bad so feel I should catch up with some other shows I've been meaning to watch to justify the subscription!

    Same here...
I don't really watch movies anymore, TV has taken over..

Absolutely tons of stuff to watch but just don't get time between the kids and working full time.
The missus on the other hand only works part time and manages to watch all the episodes without me.. ( I counted she is currently watching 12 different series)
Would love a month off just to catch up.

... there's a big wide world out there you know. Don't waste your life in front of the TV!

    going to cull some shows
Once Upon a Time for starters
    maybe Being Human

I've got The Sopranos, The West Wing, Six Feet Under & The Shield all ready to be watched.

I've tried to give up on sleeping, but that had a negative effect on my work-life.
I think I'll try giving up on work next

Your "waste" is another man's hobby...each to their own!

You'd watch anything with that dreamy Timmy Olyphant, you would.

Two more gone from my schedule tonight. "The Michael J. Fox Show" Has promise but doesn't now wether it wants to be a mockumentary or sitcom & I don't like the eldest son. He doesn't fit. "Hello Ladies" Love Stephen Merchant & this is HBO so it should have been funny, but it seems terribly dated. It should have been made (& was probably written) ten years ago.

I may also swap out "Sleepy Hollow" with "Orange is the new Black" as it's not grabbing me.

Orange is the new black is worth watching. I ran through the whole season in a week. Not sure what it is though. is it a comedy/drama. Not sure what genre to put it in.

I'm not too familiar with using the itunes folder, are u using it to keep an eye on ur ever expanding shows, as i imagine u didnt d/l them thru itunes ;);)

I just put a pile of them on a usb stick & watch them on the telly while on here :)
I've lost count on how many shows there are to watch,
Although why is it sometimes you'll watch the film/tv show on telly before you watch the dvd?

I've given up on catching up on tv and only watch shows currently showing. I keep track of them with episode calendar .com and watch no incidental tv (flicking around channels) Also homeland made the **** list this week too

    Spoilt for choice :D

Yeah by the time you get around to some of the shows, others actually premiere on tv :D

i use this site to keep an eye out for upcoming shows.

Focusing on Breaking Bad at the moment, season 1 finished so thats a a start!

Dont know where to start after I do get through it all, have so many I want to catch up on!

The Wire is up there for me next for sure

Netflix is both a great thing & worst thing.

Great to catch up on shows, on season 4 of Breaking Bad. Orange is the now Black is good ( bit of a slow burner, takes 2/3 episodes to got fully into it IMO).

But then you find other shows to watch. Want to watch Dexter & The Wire back shows.

Have 7/8 days hols to take from work by end of year. Considering a marathon of shows.

I have a big list of shows I want to watch, I'm slowly getting through them

Too much media. Too little time.
Add kids and work to the mix and it's impossible to watch everything of interest.
I find I have to be pretty brutal about which shows I'm going to invest in. If a show doesn't grab me after 2-3 episodes - it's gone.
Sons of Anarchy and Hemlock Grove failed the test recently.
    So for now it's
    • Breaking Bad
    • Homeland
    • Under the Dome (yes, I know, breaking my own rules with this one)
    • Arrested Development
    • 30 Rock
    • Walking Dead.
    • Orange is the New Black
I like to watch a couple of movies at the weekend too and maybe the odd documentary on Netflix -so I figure that's my limit.

Started on the West Wing a couple of weeks ago and am totally hooked. So many episodes to get through though, i'd say it'll be next year before I finish it!

I'm just about managing to keep up with my shows....and trying to sprinkle in a few new ones. Although a 1 and a half week holiday has left me with a huge backlog (not the type of backlog from eating foreign cuisine :)) to get through.

I also am trying to get back to a few older shows for a revisit, particularly The Sopranos as my old lady has never seen it before.

EDIT: And my and herself want to watch all the X-Files from scratch as well.

    Oh nice one, great site.

No problem, was using this site but noticed after a while it wouldnt add certain shows & then confusing you with similar sounding shows :(

But this one does the trick as you can set it to show US/Irish time, epg guide+guest stars on chat shows

I have a huge Breaking Bad shaped hole in my life. I keep saying I'll start game of thrones and just haven't got to it. I don't know why because I've only heard great things about it.

Justified on Netflix/TG4 is fantastic and worth a viewing

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

I've only four episodes of Justified left and then I guess it's time for the Wire.

Homeland and HIMYM should really be thrown off my list at this stage.

started 24, get the feeling im in for a great ride, then on to the wire and i probably have the best four shows ever done!

and that pedestal will keep rising the longer you put it off, i find it ruins some shows the longer you put them off, id hate to start watching breaking bad right now cause it is currently held in such high regard that even though i loved it i would probably be disappointed as a newbie,

i currently have about 26 hours of TV that i want to watch backed up, i have a lot of series to start watching that are already 4-5 episodes in, it really is the most entertaining shows that im watching, but i am giving priority to some new shows just to see what their like,

i just finished off falling skies, had 4 episodes burning a hole on my screen for a few weeks now so thats one show out of the way, still have most of ray donovan to get through, ill try and clear that the weekend and then i can move onto currently airing shows,

im also half way through OZ, Friday Night Lights, The Shield, Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, i flew through most of first 3 seasons of each but felt brunt out after the marathon viewing that i had to stop watching them, ill have to get back into them at some stage, the same happened when i watched The West Wing and that is my absolute favorite show, i just dont think im cut out for marathon TV viewing :o

i honestly blame this forum for this problem, its the bane of my existence :(:D
