Folks, i'm in a bit of a panic because i have an NCT Test today and i've just been reading some of the preparation i need to have done beforehand (last minute i know) and its asking me to ensure "Your Vehicle Registration Book, Registration Certificate or Licensing Certificate is with you when you arrive at the test centre."

What happens if i don't have any of them?
PLEASE PREPARE FOR YOUR NCT BY ENSURING THAT:

    1. Your car has adequate oil and water.
    2. The boot is empty and seats are clear of all belongings.
    3. The vehicle is reasonably clean (especially the underbody).
    4. The wheel hubcaps are removed (only in the case where wheel nuts are not visible)
and the tyres are inflated to the correct pressure.
    5. The engine is in a fit state to be tested e.g. cam belt/timing belt. You will be asked
to sign a disclaimer at the test centre.
    6. All seat belts and clips are fully visible (including rear).
    7. We also recommend that you have your lights checked and set prior to the NCT.
    8. Your Vehicle Registration Book, Registration Certificate or Licensing Certificate is
with you when you arrive at the test centre.
    9. You have your test fee of €55.00 for a full test or €28.00 for a re-test, plus any
cancellation fee (if applicable) payable by cash, laser card and all major credit cards
    (excluding American Express).
    10. This letter of confirmation is brought to the test centre on the day of your test.
    11. Please also ensure you bring identification (driving licence or passport only) with
you as you will be asked to produce this when presenting your vehicle for inspection
    at the Test Centre.

If above items are not taken care of, NCTS may be unable to test your vehicle.

These days the person on the desk at the NCT centre will look for the VRC/logbook and your driving license. They'll probably refuse to test in the absence of either.

I have a driving licence obviously but i bought the car second-hand and i didn't get any paper work with it. I never had any of those documents as i had to fill out a declaration of ownership in the end because the car dealer was acting the maggot.

btw, I have a question as well here:

will have a test on Friday,
one thing is not fixed in my diesel car:
FAP filter special fluid is low - Im getting short message on screen shortly after engine on.
Is this a big problem for them?

I would imagine so, as this is part of the emissions control system.

Bring it to centre and explain to them you don't have the logbook.
They may test car anyway but not release the NCT disc until they see the logbook with your name on it.

The logbook is proof you own the car, these documents are kinda handy to have..
