Is this the normal yearly increase or is it due to the strike and staff refusal to adopt changes to conditions of employment?

Less than a week's notice. Hmm.

These services are not covered by the PSO contract.

They have also closed the travel centres in Athlone and Ennis, they could also close the one in Waterford for all the use it is.

Hardly relevant though, is it? They could still give more notice to their customers.

I was only making the observation that it's not subject to the same rules.

It's been up since Thursday morning which will make it the guts of a week.

I'm sure the decision was taken long ago. Maybe 3 months ago.

I'm getting the impression lately that BE are making these changes with so little notice that they hope they'll sneak in under the radar.

I'd like to see the NTA enforce that all fare changes, regardless of PSO, Commercial nature, operated by private or public operators, require at least a weeks notice.

Will a day less notice make any difference.

It's budget day next week, isn't it? Hide the bad news is plain view. :)

I started in WIT this year so travel there and back from Wexford daily with Bus Eireann, usually buying a 10 trip student ticket for €41. This week I only needed to go down two days, on Monday I paid €12 for a student return ticket, yesterday I paid €14 due to the fare increase. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that an increase of over 16%??
