    Hi Guys,
My bro taking the wheels off to replace pads & the locking nut key broke on the 3rd wheel.
Now 2 Wheels are missing a nut.
    The other 2 have a nut I can't open.
I've no code for the Key.
What are my options? Should a good Garage have a Skeleton Key or should I call Ford with the Reg as I'd say they are original (it's 09).
    Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem on the wifes focus, one of the lock-nuts was put on too tight and I knew it would break the key (the ONLY key ). I took off the other x3 ok, and as expected the key thread got broken off on the 4th lock-nut.

The hole on the alloy was far too small to let conventional locking-nut removal tools in, and Ford use a mad system to prevent the use of such tools as the outer part of the nut also spins:mad:.

In the end, I got a metal epoxy glue and glued the broken key onto the lock-nut and let it dry over night. I got out the impact gun and intentionally broke off the outer spinning part of the nut which was now firmly glued to the broken key. I then got a 12-point size 17 socket and whalloped it onto the piece of the lock-nut that was left.

    Success :D;)

Don't mean to hijack this thread, but are the lock nuts specific to each car or will one lock nut open every mondeo, Ive broke one before and i'm on my last now!

i rang Finglas Ford & they said they have a selection that will open about 80% of them but no guarantee... and that I'd need to order a new set with a new Key. So I think I'll drop in & see if we can get them off. Then get a new set online.
