Brenneke rifle ammunition

German at work noticed a copy of "Sporting Rifle" next to me, so got talking, as you do for quite some time. Apart from the usual envy when talking to guys from the continent and their multiple rifles, turns out his favourite calibre is the same as one of my total of two centerfires. A bit of an oddball in Ireland.
He swears by Brenneke ammunition and they offer three loads in my calibre. I have seen Brenneke shotgun slugs in the past but not their rifle ammunition, although have heard a number of good reports about it. Am interested it giving it a go.

Anyone seen Brenneke rifle ammunition in Ireland, or know any dealers who do or would import it?

What caliber is your firearm and what is your sport? 8mm Mauser, like the name suggests?

Are you a hunter, target shooter, long ranger? Do you have a specific job for you round or are you looking for something that is just generally?

I too have never seen anything other than shotgun ammo from Brenneke.

My number 1 choice of bullet is the Sierra Gameking, for deerhunting and Matchking for targets and/or distance work. In both cases, the optimal mass bullet I have found is around the 165gr mark.

Following at a very close #2 are Nosler Partition's. A closer third, throw in Barnes' Triple shock.

Since it is illegal to reload in Eire, you will have to make due with factory stuff and forego choosing brass, powder, and primers.

Federal Vital Shok is what I look for in Ireland. They use Sierra Gameking bullets.

Otherwise, you should try and find some Nosler Tropy Grade for hunting. However, I do not know if you'll find this in Ireland.

I would expect that there is plenty of Seller & Belliot since they are from the Czech Republic. If so, try and get the S&B with Nosler Partitions.

If precision is the name and EU manufacturers are the game, why not go Lapua or Norma? I have had good results with Norma and hear great things about Lapua.

Thanks FISMA, used to own a M98 Brno sporter in 8mm Mauser when living in the states, great cartridge. Had settled on similar loadings, unfortunately had to leave it behind, time when allowed only one centrefire in Ireland.

However, am looking for 8mm but the bigger 8x68S,similar ballistics to the 8mm Remington Magnum. I use it for hunting only, occasional Red in Ireland when ranges are going to be long and the continent for boar. RWS offer a few loadings for it which have worked great. Norma load a 200gr Swift A-Frame which is fantastic but harder to source. Been saving to go to Africa again, hopefully next year so looking at bullet options, had not been aware of Brenneke rifle ammunition till this German guy at work mentioned it few days ago, their TOG bullet looks interesting.

By all reports the 8x68s lends itself very well to reloading. Who knows, maybe we will be permitted to some day. May be dreaming, but then, I can remember when anyone who mentioned the possibility of ever owning anything bigger than a 22-250 in Ireland was considered to be off their rocker.
