Hi, Can I swap my PC into another case and upgrade it a bit at the same time?

I have a 3 yr old HP Pavilion Slimline s5565uk,

    The specs are
    microATX M2N68-LA (Narra6) Motherboard
    AMD Athlon II X4 635 2.9 GHz
    4GB DDR3 RAM (2 x 2GB) (max ram is 8GB)
NVIDIA GeForce G210 512 MB onboard memory, low profile
    220W power supply
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Full specs and some pics are here
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?objectID=c02486133&lang=en&cc=hr&taskId=135&contentType=SupportFAQ&prodSeriesId=4162194&prodTypeId=12454

Its good for web browsing and older/light games but I'd like to play some newer games on it not the latest ones on ultra settings or anything just make it a bit better,

I want to change the graphics card but I cant physically fit most types just the low profile ones in and the 220W power supply isn't enough to power a bigger one, so I was going to rebuild it into a different case using most of the parts again just changing the Case, PSU and Graphics card.

How good/bad is the CPU compared to to a current gen i3 or i5?
    I saw this too
    http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/366037-28-athlon-9ghz-gaming-base

The wifi card in it has 2 wires going to the front and back of my case, can I move them and use it again in the new case or should I just buy a new one?

I have a good idea of the parts I want to get, just wanted to check if it will work or if I should change anything before I buy them

Case - BitFenix Prodigy M MATX Cube Case - Midnight Black - £74.95

PSU - Corsair Builder Series CXM 600W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU - £59.98

Is 600W enough or should I get a 750W for future upgrades?
Corsair Builder Series CXM 750W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU - £73.76

    Wifi card - TP-Link TL-WN781ND 150Mbps Wireless PCI Express Adapter + Low Profile Bracket - £9.32
should I get the basic 150Mbps or the more expensive N600/N900

I'm not sure about the graphics card, How far can I go with the graphics card before I'll have a bottleneck from the CPU?
    2gb DDR3 or 1GB GDDR5?
Should I get a new one or a better used one?

I saw this one as a cheap one that looks good
    Palit 2GB Nvidia GeForce GT 630 Graphics Card (DDR3, HDMI, DVI, VGA, PCI-Express 2.0, DirectX 11.0 & OpenGL 4.2 Support, 3D Vision with Blu-ray 3D Support, Nvidia PureVideo HD Technology) - £45.93

Could I go for a Asus 2GB GDDR5 Nvidia GeForce GTX 650Ti Boost for £138.97?
    or a 2gb 7870?

Maybe add a 120GB SSD for the OS

And should I stay with 4GB (2x2GB) of ram or go for 2x4GB?

What are good makes of fans?
I'll need a 140mm for the back and a couple of 120mm ones for the top and bottom and maybe replace the 80mm CPU fan

Is the Antec Twocool Blue 140mm Fan good?
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A26T7BS9YHZ6DL

After all that how good would it be, is it worth doing?
I'd plan on keeping it like that for a while then change the Motherboard and CPU in a couple of years.

    Sorry for the long post
    Thanks,

Just build new. A lot of oem pcs like the HP use custom motherboards and power supplies that are simply non standard and will not fit in an office shelf case or take a standard power supply.

Option one: add a radon 7750 to the pc. This card will power off just the power from the point express slot. No extra power needed.

Option 2: build from scratch and sell the old pc.
I would advise to post your a budget and include the stand build template you will find stickied in the forum or in another builds thread.

    Edit:

600w is plenty for a single gfx card system. More than plenty.....

Skip the wireless card and get power line adapters

Thanks for the reply but why quote my whole post for the first reply?

Its a standard size 244x244mm mATX motherboard so it should fit and I said I was changing the PSU not using the stock 220w PSU,
AMD recommends using a 400W PSU for a 7750, my one is a 220W so what you said wouldn't work

I can't afford to do a complete new build while I still have this PC and I wouldn't get much if I sold it, so I'd like to keep it

I always use Wifi so I'll need a wireless card

Budget is around €350 for the Case, PSU, Graphics card and a few fans

    1. What is your budget? [€350ish]

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Some Gaming/Internet]
Battlefield 3, Minecraft, GTA and some newer games (on medium settings)

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? [No]

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? [Motherboard, CPU, RAM, 500GB HDD, Bluray Drive (details in OP)]

    5. Do you need a monitor? [No]

5a. If yes, what size do you need. [No]

5b. If no, what resolution is your current monitor and do you plan to upgrade in the near future? [1366x768 20" from 2007] [Yes but not yet]

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? [No]

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? [Maybe]

    8. How can you pay? [Credit Card/Laser/Paypal]

    9. When are you purchasing? [In a couple of weeks, whenever the Prodigy M is out]

Replied using my phone, messy trying to edit posts :-)

PSU requirements are always overstated as AMD/Nvidia have to account for idiots using €20 death trap PSUs. The radeon 7750 is recommended a lot here for folk trying to upgrade OEM boxes as you usually get away with the standard PSU you have already and do not need to upgrade. A good quailty 400W psu will power a full system and a high end gfx card at a push.

Also the devil in the detail for OEM motherboards are not the dimensions....
Different/non standard power connectors and different connectors for power on/reset buttons etc can throw a spanner in the works. Would be one to research before buying parts.

I always use Wifi so I'll need a wireless card
Powerline Ethernet adapters are better for gaming than wireless, however each to their own.

Budget is around €350 for the Case, PSU, Graphics card and a few fans

for giggles I tried to see what I could spec/how far I could go for €350.

from our good friends in Hardwareversand.de

    450w psu (superflower) (€31.04)
    amd 6300fx boxed cpu (€91.54)
    Radeon 7750 (€75.12)
    Bitfenix prodigy in M-atx (€79.90)
    MSI 760GM Socket fm3 motherboard. (€34.98)
    4gig 1600mhz ram. (€37.76)

Now in your case, if you can re-use you motherboard, cpu, ram etc... and can easily transplant your parts.

Case is €80 (in itx or m-atx), A superflower 500W psu I just spotted is €32.88 (may aswell go this over the 450W...)

Leaving you roughly €250 for a graphics card and some odds and ends such as fans.

I would not spec lower than a Radeon 7850 (€130+) or Nvidia 650ti boost.

I'd rather keep and use my own parts,

I've checked the mounting hole spacing on the motherboard and the connectors its got a standard 24pin for the Motherboard and 4 pin for the CPU,
and standard connectors along the bottom of the for the Front Panel I/O, (power button, Led's, USB's and headphones) so everything should be ok

What are good makes of fans? (3 pin, 140mm)

Can anyone recommend a good Wifi Card?
