Is there a massive difference in the maintenance and upkeep costs of modern cars?

For example, for cars less than 5 years old, assuming no huge issues, normal wear and tear, would the cost of an audi be much more than a volkswagen or toyota?

Parts are probably going to be more expensive between an Audi and a toyota. Just because a car is 3 years old doesn't mean something can't go wallop.
