I need to get a copy of my masters degree attested by the Department of Foreign Affairs (for a teaching job). On their website they give a 40 euro fee for 'verifying or certifying a copy of any document'.

Does anybody happen to know if this verification requires the services of a notary public first, or can I just take the copy along with the original, and have it verified there at the Department of Foreign Affairs?

You visit the Notary first, then you visit Foreign Affairs.
