    Hi everyone

I am planning my honeymoon and will be leaving from shannon and going straight to NYC

At NYC then i will have 1hr 20 mins to get on a flight to Miami

    My question is this

Previously , I wouldnt have considered this enough time to go through customs when i land in NYC but now can i go through all the customs in shannon ?

When i land in states do you go through customs in hte first airport (NYC) or at your final destination ?

Would you consider 1 hr 20 mins enough time to make flight in NYC (not changing airlines, just planes)

    Thanks in advance

You should clear customs at Shannon as well as immigration. You will then land in the USA as a domestic passenger. If you have your bags cleared through to your final destination and are not changing terminals you should be ok but it will be tight. One little hicup and you could miss your flight.

The plus side of travelling with a single airline is that if you do miss your connection, they will put you on the next flight. Don't stress it :)

Depends on the airport and whether you're changing terminals or not.

Give more details of the flights and someone here should be able to advise you. If your booking confirmation doesn't mention the terminal number(s), go to the airport's website, it should tell you the arriving and departure terminals.

If you're flying with the same airline then I assume you've booked both flights on the same booking in which case the airline will put you on a later flight if you miss the connection but that sounds like a very tight schedule.

yeah its all with united airlines - land in terminal C and depart from terminal C also

    Bags will be checked through.

The thing is that if i make this flight then i arrive in my destination at 3.50 pm which is lovely, otherwise its night time so i reckon its worth chancing it - if i miss it then get the next one

    What ya all think ?

    Newark airport by the way

    UA from shannon to newark - 9am - 11.20AM

Newark to Miami leaving at 12:40 from same terminal

Watch out for duty free at Shannon. You can fly with liquids in hand luggage into the US, but they will be confiscated if you board a connecting flight once in the US.

No, they won't in the OP's case.

As he's not changing terminals, he won't be reclearing security. He can walk from gate to gate, bringing his duty free (or any other liquids he's bought without further issue.

If he was changing to a different terminal, and having to re-clear security, then yes it becomes an issue.

I would have thought i have to go through security ?

Why would you? Unlike airports here, in the US arriving and departing passengers generally mix. In your situation you'll arrive at gate C6 (for example) and your connecting flight is at C14..you simply walk off the plane and over to C14. As you pre-cleared it's no different for you than the passenger from Kansas City getting off at gate C5 walking straight over on to the Miami flight :)
