Go and raid your Wardrobe for the Rail, not perfect but will get you out of a Jam...

    image_zpsba4ea28b.jpg

When you cut it make the cut millimetre perfect, also try and keep the legs to the ends of the Rail where the strength is i.e not in the middle.

    What weight is the Carcass???

Ah it's not too big a nice size. it's a coke fridge i have is it ok to screw into it

What's the thickness of a Coke Fridge??? 50mm? Bring out the tape measure on yours and knock a few millimetres off the total.

Use any screw under that. Also if there are 2 or more holes in the bracket use all the holes in the bracket, you can change to Stainless Steel Screws latter on.

If you have a choice of Hangers use side hangers (as in photo) that work on Sheer Weight and not the sort that hangs from the ceiling of the Fridge, I'm not to sure how well they will hold any weight to be honest.

Edit: BTW congratulations on the Fallow, stick up a photo when your done.

are there shelves with your fridge? if so move the shelf support brackets to highest point and use the shelf itself if its a wire one. It should be strong enough to support a carcass.

Isn't a coke fridge gas filled I wouldn't go putting screws in it , you can get bars that twist out and tighten against the side walls ,

Or what I seen done was he got an old child safety gate and too the pieces out of it that goes against the wall it made a great job of it , make sure and quarter the animal that way u have minimal weight hanging on these bars .

On my <insert beer company's name here> the only part I would not put any screws into are the Back and Floor of it, the side walls are just insulation so your not going to put a screw into anything you shouldn't and a screw into insulation ain't going to waste cold.
It's not as if the doors are so highly engineered that they do not leak cold air.

I just thought it would be like a fridge in a house lad , just something to check befor putting screws into it .

    Wasn't disagreeing with ya

All I done is put back in one shelf as high as u can get it. Had cut out bit of mine to go around fan housing up at top , simplely put piece of bar across shelf to even out weight and hang a s hook out it will take 50kg plus no problem only took 2 min to do

Ya his in there I cut a bit out of the shelve and put his legs true it and put a bar across not the best but will do for now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,249 ✭✭✭One shot on kill

Is the bar going true his legs like.

Look well done at least you got him up and in that's the main thing.

Yes sorry it's going true his legs . See the fridge I have is plastic on the inside with plastic lips on the sides to hold the shelves I don't want to screw holes into it I'm just worried that (IF) I shoot a big lad will the plastic hold the beast

I'd imagine so. Just make sure that the bar kind of wedges in width if you get what I'm trying to say.

I'm not sure if its an issue but what type of bar is it and was it clean and free from rust. I'm unsure if it matters there in the leg but something to think about.

It's stainless steel and I gave it a clean before I used it . Thanks for the info :)

if there is 4 brackets it should hold. done one the same as demolisher, as i said earlier.but the pictures explain it better.

Ah your laughing so stainless should be the job. Anyway it was just a thought on my behalf. More curiosity than anything.

Just a couple of thoughts, the plastic clips which hold up the shelves can get very brittle in older fringes , and can snap .
Cooling element always at the back, so you can screw brackets into the sides OK.
You can always run two batons (roofing laths, etc.) up the sides to support your cross bar if you don't want to screw into the sides.

The plastic insides can snap if you have the weight all on one point on a bar. A handy and easy solution is if you put a bit of 2x1 or similar on top of the plastic rail and wedge another piece between them in at the back. this will hold both side pieces in place and will allow you to sit the bar on top of it and spread the weight around. Will hold 80kgs no bother.

Bar through the tendons in the legs is the handiest way of hanging them.
