autumn calving progression

    well all how is the autumn calving going in the country? any or much problems occurring this year

    Last one calved at about 3 weeks ago. Have about 8 authunm calvers this year. Was going to cull these late calving cows but have had cull others is wasn't planning on. It's a bit of an experiment TBH. Will have some nice heifers coming through next year so might just push their culling out. We will see how they fare over winter.

    Only had two this year. One heifer tried the impossible - calving uphill with her back end against a ditch, I arrived too late to save the calf. Only looked at her about an hour previously and thought all was well!
    Other one calved last week. Lovely black heifer. Flew out of her mother and bounced to her feet!
    They were both the same AA bull and the difference in the size of the calves was amazing from two heifers nearly identical in age and size.

    was the one that died a bull?

    How did you guess???? Out of KDU from a Fr/AA heifer.
