    Hi all,
friend of mine had an ABS issue with her 07 Corsa & brought to OPEL dealer who said it was supposed to be fixed under a recall but the previous owner never brought it in to have the work done. Opel now say that the recall is closed & the repair will cost €1200 even though there was a recall for this problem. Can Opel do this?

    Thanks!

How long ago was the recall?

From what I can gather it was 2010 & friend bought car from 1st owner last year.

I'd be somewhat doubtful that the recall window was open-ended. May be worth checking how long ago that the recall window closed?

This is why a little research is important - if people insisted on service histories and evidence of recall work (a quick google search would have shown up that a recall was made) then these issues wouldn't arise. To be fair to Opel, they will have given an opportunity for the work to be done and it will presumably have been advertised. They would likely have written to the original owner, unfortunately your friend is likely to have to pay up. If the car had been serviced by an Opel dealer on a regular basis and the recall work was not done, you might have a strong "goodwill" claim.

The car has a full service history & with some serious wording over the phone with Opel they have agreed to cover all costs of the work.

Mod please close thread. Thanks to all for comments
