    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Haven't seen it, but is the early (underpowered) 4.5l engine and the undesirable 3-speed auto gearbox. That said, the asking price seems very reasonable indeed for what it is!

Ad is 62 days old and says "More photo's to follow" but I guess they never followed :)

Yeah it's tough to find a decent early one, they didn't get a 4 speed box until 84 I think. Would love to save a trip to Roscommon if it hasn't been looked after, they can cost ridiculous amounts to put right.
    But I'd love a 928 with a €56 tax disc :)

I'd like to hear more about it if you view?

Looks very good value to me. I'm surprised I hadn't spotted it.

Interesting looking cars in the background - ZX, W123, RR Classic...... ;)

Doesn't mention the body specifically, or the interior.

Does seem cheap, though. Someone take a look!

Seller must read here. Lots more pics up now!

Looks well, love the Pasha interior. If there's nothing major wrong with it, it's a bargain!

Yeah, the interior looks cool. Would be sniffing around for damp though.

    What's the catch? :)

I'll be in the market for one soon, is there anything in particular to look out for on the 928 ?

    Those interiors make me dizzy:D
    But I wouldn't mind one myself, a 928, an SEC or a 635csi... hmm

    The fuel gauge!

As the old saying goes "It'd pass anything on the road bar a petrol pump!" :D

You really need to start reading up on them, but in general these cars are mechanically strong and sound. Engine is indestructible and so is the 4-speed ZF autobox (not the 3-speed box that's in the OP). Very little to go wrong with the pop-up headlights. All of them were fully galvanised with several body parts made of aluminium (doors, bonnet), so rot (from rust) is unlikely

Early 4.5l is underpowered (240BHP), but of course all '79 and older cars are NCT exempt. If you don't mind the NCT, then an S (300BHP) can be had on vintage tax. S2 (310BHP) - up to '86 don't have the trickier electronics that the 32V S4 (from '87) has

Electrics are the main weakness in all cars. Just too many advanced electronics in an aging car is not a good mix

BEWARE, BEWARE. Many 928 are not original, they are a mish-mash of different generation wheels / interiors / spoilers etc. I'm very far from a purist / perfectionist, but on a 928 the non original details just look wrong to me. Car in the OP is one of the exceptions and looks very original!

Import one and you could be hit by a massive VRT bill, beware!

    It really isn't that bad, Do-more ;)

Around 20MPG is what I got most of the time - not bad at all for a 5l V8 car with over 300BHP

That said, if you try it will be easier to get 5MPG than 30MPG :)

A mate of mine has one and has awful issues with leaky seals and interior damp. Probably less of an issue when there's no sunroof.

Funny you say that. Mine has been off the road for over 4 years (sitting on my drive) and although the sitting up isn't doing the car any good, the interior is in very good condition indeed. No damp anywhere. No leaks through the sunroof. And the car is over 27 years old now :)

I would be very, very wary of a damp car. All relays and fuses in the 928 are located in the bottom of the passenger side foot well. About the lowest point in the interior of the car. Crazy place to have electronics.
