I'm looking to buy a small laptop.

    Budget: Up to 200

Intended use: Tinkering with java code using Netbeans.

Mobility: Smaller the better to bring with me in college and travel where I can pop it out and poke away at code.

    Warranty: Not important.

Operating System: Anything that can run Netbeans without issue and JDK 7.

I'm basically looking for a cheapish small laptop to tinker with and test some java code. Doesnt have to be new or fancy, be grateful to hear any and all recommendations.

200 yoyos? Not a hope. Unless you buy second hand (try adverts.ie) or some cheapo China-laptop with an Atom processor...

Second hand, refurbished, netbooks, cheapo chinese-laptops all options. I'm not expecting much for the budget just something that would be usable for a small bit of java programming. I get a couple years out of it before it melts I'll be happy.

Something like this? You'll probably get hit with VAT though...

Tying to visualize how big a 14" laptop would be. I had those 10" mini ones in my head when starting the thread. Something really small to throw in the bag and pull out on an odd occasion.

Not sure if the typical netbook resolution of 1024x600 would suit your needs (deffo too small for me if I'd be doing some serious work on it), the 14" laptop has 1366x76.

Running an IDE on a 10 or 11" is pretty torturous. Try save and get a 14 if you can.

Checking adverts and whatnot. I figure a second hand one would be the best value for what I'm after. I'll keep an eye out for 14" though.
