Hi does anyone know anything about setting up a mobile coffee business. I'm from cork and would love to start up a mobile coffee business. I know I would have 2 get permits to park up. Does that mean I can park up anywhere??? Also how would you go about setting up stalls at farmers markets, matches etc etc.

    Hi Suzieboo,

this has been asked and answered a few times. The most difficult part is finding a pitch, it's not just a case of parking up and breaking out the beans.

You should get some useful info by doing a search of the Entrepreneurial & Business Management forum. Here's one that should be relevant:

here's someone doing it in Kildare http://cafe2u.com/uk/partners/kildare-laois

seems to do quite good - he'd do better if he marketed it better as I suggested he call into our offices and do a sales pitch to 12 staff we have, (he hasn't done it yet) but maybe he has enough business.

That is a serious outlay for a coffee van business £25k plus vat. Plus the cost of a mercedes van fitted out.!!

eh? - I have zero experience except I buy cups of coffee off the guy. I don't think that qualifies me as having experience.:p

Cork has been flooded with a spate of these recently, in Ballincollig Regional Park there are two vans operating daily(maybe this will ease off over the winter) but I noticed on one of the vans that they had received funding through the SECAD. Also from talking to another person, you would have to be trained in HACCP and how to handle food etc(not sure of the exact quals needed here)

If you are putting a business plan together, let me know, I might be able to help out and possibly may be interested in investing.

Oh ya meant to say, a permit would be required for matches as I would imagine you'd have to pull up on the side of a road but for farmers markets, you prob just pay the normal stall fee's as associated with any of these events.
