I thought it was funny at the start of the year when big Phil hit his Razr Fit Extreme well for about 2 tournaments and Callaway came out with this advert almost immediately...

You've all heard it played ad nauseum...

A few rounds latter and Phil relegates this driver to the archives and plays with a "phrankenwood" 3 wood so he can actually hit a fairway.

So now this week, playing at the Presidents Cup, Phil is using Callaway's arch rival Taylormade's new SLDR driver....

    Golf is a fickle business.

I would have thought that would never be allowed to happen contract wise etc

If my company was paying someone to use my stuff I'd be damned if they were going to be seen using competitors stuff.
But on the pga site this isn't the first time

He's had a rbz 3 wood in and a ping hybrid in the last year.

He's probably contracted to only have a certain amount of Callaway clubs in his bag. Like most pros.

Either way - it's fairly damning for Callaway. Their main front man using a competitor's driver. They say they have a prototype coming but in the meantime, what would it do to their sales of the RazrFit Extreme....

No more damning than Luke Donald or Harrington using a taylormade driver. That's one of the main reasons taylormade went white. They were sick of non-taylormade pros using their clubs.
