Apologies if this was already a topic but I cannot find anything on it.

Has anybody ever changed a DMF on a 320d (e46) to a solid flywheel and what was the verdict on it?

No idea about a bimmer, but I did an 05 transit last week, and despite dire warnings about harshness, vibration, yadda yadda, guess what? Apart from the new ease of getting gears and lack of nasty crunching noises...I can't see a damn difference. I wouldn't hesitate anyway. DMFs are crap, imo.

Some models take to solid flywheels better than others.
    No idea about the 320d

Hi there I work in a bmw garage and have fitted plenty of clutchs both solid and dual mass flywheels.I've fitted plenty of solids to the likes of the audis and vws but I will tell u we have never fitted a solid to a bm as they are not good and will really be vibrations in it.the dual mass in a bm is there to add for the comfort and for thst reason alone I woukdnt fit it. Apart from the fact that u will never be able to match a clutch kit for it again if u change it to solid the next time the clutch goes you will have to buy the whole kit again as you won't be able to match up the clutch again.
