Hey guys I have a fee low value item that I wish to sell on ebay. I was curious how the fees work. My understanding is that I pay a listing fee and then some commission on top. I am just wondering do I have to pay a listing fee etc. before I have actually sold my items. Also is Paypal the best way forward as a seller. Is this for the commission comes in. A breakdown would be nice to help me to understand. Lets say I list an item at €10, after I have paid a listing fee and commission how much do I get paid. Is it difficult setting the payment form, allowing a purchaser to combine postage etc.

Can you give a breakdown of the fees. Are the fees going to cost less on a €5 item.

You pay the insertion fee to list your item on eBay whether your item sells or not. If it does sell then you are charged a fixed percentage of the items selling price (around 10% I think?) Then Paypal takes another 3% of that to move the money from into your bank account. And then you have to buy a package and post it.
Not worth the hassle of selling on eBay unless it's something valuable imho.

Edit: there are free listing weekends sometimes where you can put up a certain number of items without having to pay the listing fees. All the others still apply though

I recently sold an item on eBay for 14.50 and Paypal deduction was 84c , which is 3.4 % plus 35c .

    eBay took 10% , of selling fee which is €1.25 ( item €12.50 and post 2.50 )

    The insertion fee was €0.50

So total cost to me is € 2.14.

This works out at a cost of 15% , but recently it has been said that eBay also charge full % on shipping cost too.

So in your case of an item sold for a tenner , you pay fees of €1.50 , although you may need to include the shipping cost if eBay re including this .
