    Hi

I am a school leaver without non-accountancy back ground. I want to study in one of the national university as a Mature Student.

It s been so long since i left school. Do you think that I should do a Foundation Diploma within Accountancy?

I want to start from zero(0) to then qualify for accountant.

That is the other thing I wonder, where do you think I should qualify from. I mean the Accountancy Bodies in Ireland.

I heard there is acca,aca,ati,pca.... which of these is higher of from each other??

What would be your recommendation to me on this long path to the accountancy.? What are the steps I should follow up. ?
    thanks in advance

You could do worse than read the sticky on the accountancy bodies.

All the accounting bodies have open entry now for mature students.

It depends on what previous education experience you have as to what level you start at. If you've only got the leaving cert then maybe accounting technician may make sense to start with.

Yeah , I have non-Irish leaving cert from 1998. That s why I want to start from 0 level.

I did search the Acc. Tech ,thats 2 year program with only certificate.NO qualification until another 2 more year with Universities BA(honor) . That is making 4 years of total. What I`m thinking is 1 year Foun Dip + 3 year Universities BA(honor) = total again 4 year..

Try the CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting would take you 6-9 months at your own pace, then you can go straight on to the main qialification.

And after your 4 year degree, then what?

As far as I know I will sit down them bodies`s exams to qualify about 10 of them.If I finish BA I would exempt from 4 out 10 exams, if I am not wrong!!

IMO, you should improve your literacy skills first as there are plenty of subjects (and real world jobs) that require report-writing and effective written communication skills.

    Hi

I may not have put in it in so harsh terms as Fisheyfreak.

You also need to be able to communicate information in a clear way to other people.

Best of luck with it anyway!

    Kind regards
