Does anyone have one of these wifi cards and do you find it useful? I'm very tempted to get one just for the convenience of automatically transferring my photos onto my computer, but it seems they have some other features which could be very handy too.

I'm not exactly sure how they work, but what I would love to be able to do is take some pix on the camera, and then be able to view them on my phone and delete the obvious bad ones. Not sure of this is possible, would be nice but not essential.

Has anyone used them - are they useful?

Sounds like you want to make things harder and more difficult for yourself. Why delete them via your phone when you could just use the camera?

I agree, This sounds like one of thos ethings that you spend a lot of money and time for no actual gain if teh reason is to send to your phone for viewing. Also youre just deleting the copy on your phone, you still have to do the same with the copy on the camera itself, I woudlnt set it to send the only copy to the phone.

I think these are mainly used to send a photo direct to a laptop where it will be printed off in event photography no?

Ok fair enough its not meant for that - it was only an idea. Apart from that are they generally good or a gimmicky waste of money?

Wifi may slow you down too, If your shooting with an SLR in raw its a waste of time

I use mine for wireless tethering in the studio and even on location. I have it setup to send jpeg copies of all images to an iPad app called ShutterSnitch.

The app lets you rate and organize the images, so it's handy for clients to make their picks during the shoot. It's nice to be able to check sharpness on a decent sized screen as well. I find most camera LCD screens can be very deceptive in this regard.

I just use it as preview really. My camera has both an SD and a CF card slot, so the RAW files are nice and safe on my CF card. I delete the images from the iPad once I've made my picks and synced that up with Lightroom (this has to be done manually unfortunately).

I use mine for an event studio I do, which is great for getting the photos to laptop without wires, can be a bit slow at times, but i find it very usefull

I use.my eye fi card on the go. Very handy for getting the pics emailed or online straightaway. I use a MacBook Air which doesn't have a sd slot so it comes in handy when I forget my USB card reader.
