Hi, can someone answer me as I need to get a tax clearance as I need to get a haulage license but I owe revenue money from a previous business but I am in an arrangement paying them back weekly and am doing so for the last year, if I was to set up a limited company would the company automatically get one as it be a new company or would it be affected as I would be a director

You can apply for one but they won't issue it for a full year. You will have to ring the tax clearance section of your tax office to discuss it. They may only issue a tax clearance valid for a few months and subject to you maintaining your installment agreement with the Revenue and also keeping current taxes up to date.

To answer your second question - yes you being a director of a limited company - if your own tax affairs are not in order, this effects the tax clearance of the limited company if you are a proprietary director.
